Kasa Japo La Maquinista
Grup Kasa (working in Knock)

Barcelona has a huge and hypercompetitive Asian dining scene, where all too often the focus is on speed and mass consumption. In contrast, Grup Kasa has long been setting itself apart. With a network of more than 10 locations throughout the city (such as Kasa Japo Universitat, Kasa Japo Glòries, and Kasa Ramen Pedralbes), its mission has remained unchanged: to craft an authentic experience faithful to traditional cuisine.

Opening a new Kasa Japo at La Maquinista, one of the city’s largest and busiest shopping centers, posed the challenge of how to get noticed and stand out in such a crowded environment without losing its essence.

The solution was a flexible visual system, designed to adapt the brand’s identity to large-scale formats without diluting the group’s core values. This approach not only addresses the needs of this new location but also streamlines day-to-day operations and paves the way for future projects.

The space exudes Kasa’s visual identity. It features the iconic neon signs with messages like “Asian mood, Asian food” or “Use chopsticks, my friend,” as well as the characteristic bamboo lamps that lend just the right amount of warmth to the venue. And as in every venue in the group, an animal from Asian mythology takes center stage. This time, the star of the show is the tiger, a spectacular piece created by Jav Rubin from layered white sheets and subsequently hand-painted.

To take the venue’s personality a step further, we’ve expanded the design system with new elements: from an eye-catching holographic bar to a 3D-printed chopstick holder shaped like the “A” in the logo, combining functionality and brand presence in every detail.
